Ruger Drops Emotional New Single ‘Toro’ Ahead of ‘BlownBoy’ Album

As excitement builds for his second studio album, BlownBoy, Ruger has released a heartfelt new single, Toro.

The track is a soulful love song that sees the versatile artist open up about the complexities of his romantic life.

“I wrote Toro after I messed up a real and true relationship,” Ruger revealed, explaining the song’s inspiration.

Premiering with an exclusive COLORS Show performance, Toro blends Afrobeats with R&B elements, showcasing Ruger’s signature smooth melodies and raw emotions to create a deeply resonant love record.

This release follows his previous single, Jay Jay, which took an unconventional approach to Valentine’s Day by celebrating independence and carefree living.

Toro is set to feature on BlownBoy, his much-anticipated sophomore album, scheduled for release on March 28.

Ruger has kicked off 2025 with a packed schedule, looking to build on the success of 2024, during which he collaborated with BNXN on their well-received joint project, RnB. The album’s absence from the recently announced 17th Headies nominations list has sparked discussions among fans.

BlownBoy serves as a follow-up to his debut album Ru The World, which delivered hit tracks like Asiwaju, Jonzing Boy, and Red Flag.

Since making his mainstream breakthrough five years ago with his Pandemic EP—home to smash hits Bounce, Ruger, and Abu Dhabi—Ruger has established himself as one of Afrobeats’ most dynamic hitmakers. His signature “bad boy” persona has only strengthened his appeal, especially among his growing global fanbase.
