Many people think Runtown disappeared from the music industry because his inspiration was finished, but that is not true!
What happened to him was SHOCKING.
After forming a record label with his friend Phino in 2008, Runtown released a few songs which did well, but his breakthrough came when he featured Davido on his hit song “Gallado.”
After dropping this song, Runtown became a big star in the industry. He was becoming very popular but had no money to push his music like Davido and others.
He then decided to meet a popular Nigerian businessman named Okwudili, who signed him and created Eric Many Entertainment, for a one-year deal!
This was the beginning of his downfall.
Runtown wanted to make music, but Dilli was more interested in being praised like Emoney for having a big artist. He started telling Runtown to sing his name in his music, and Runtown wasn’t happy with it, and they started having issues.
Dilli wanted Runtown to always be around him and praise him around his rich friends; Runtown couldn’t travel without his permission.
One day, Runtown traveled to London without his permission, and when he returned to Nigeria, his boss thre@tened him with a gvn.
He wasn’t getting paid enough for his music, and when his contract was coming to an end, Dilli promised him a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and convinced him to sign a new three-year deal which was a trap because Dilli didn’t want to let him go after this.
In 2016, Runtown dropped “Mad Over You,” and it became a continental hit! He was getting booked for shows in America and Europe.
They didn’t pay him his royalties, and he wanted to leave the label for good but received threats.
After everything, he took a bold step and left the label and since then, he went from one threat and court case to another.
In 2019, Runtown won his case against Dilli but didn’t have the money to push his career again.
He started dropping songs, and nobody was hearing about him again till date!
The industry was already under the feet of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Naira Marley, and Davido.
He couldn’t find his way back, and that was how his music career became what it is today!
